Put Away the Thanksgiving Recipe File and Treat Your Family to a Great Dinner With the Trimmings
Many New Yorkers have spent the early days of November searching for the next great recipe to spice up Thanksgiving dinner. But this year, it can be different! If you are looking to share a wonderful holiday dinner with family and friends, but want to spend your time at the table instead of in the kitchen, consider these great prix fixe menus at some of the New York City’s hottest restaurants.
Cookshop
This much-acclaimed two-year-old offshoot of the East Village’s Five Points restaurant, offers several choices on the three-course Thanksgiving menu for $65.00. Served all day on Thursday (seatings are from 2:00PM to 8:00PM), the menu features what New York Magazine calls “simple but deftly prepared pleasures,” and is sure to give diners plenty to be thankful for on Thanksgiving.
Pamplona
Chef/Owner Alex Urena “can really cook,” according to Frank Bruni’s recent review in the New York Times, and Thanksgiving seems like a great day to see for yoursef. The prix menu offers Thanksgiving dinner with a decidedly Spanish twist. Three courses plus a side dish are $45.00, and dinner will be served from 3:00PM to 8:00PM on the holiday.
Porter House New York
What could be more American for this very American holiday than dinner at a steakhouse? Executive Chef/Managing Partner Michael Lomonaco is offering an $85.00 four-course menu featuring his take on Thanksgiving dinner: entrees include Grilled salmon, Pan roasted halibut, Black Angus rib of beef, and, of course, Roasted natural turkey with apple, sage and vidalia onion dressing and giblet gravy.
Klee Brasserie
Austrian Chef Daniel Angerer’s popular Chelsea Brasserie has certainly gotten a lot of attention since its 2006 opening, for what Time Out calls its “totally unpredictable menu [which] yields many surprising hits.” A sure-fire hit as well will be Klee’s Thanksgiving three-course prix fixe, which features such entrees as Maple laced turkey, Apple wood grilled Virginia sea trout, and Colorado lamb shank. Special Holiday drinks and sides are priced separately. The Thanksgiving 2007 Dinner Menu for $59.00 is served from noon until 10:00PM.
Arte Cafe
A “warm, unpretentious Italian restaurant … (the) prototypical neighborhood standby,” is how New York Magazine fondly describes Arte Cafe on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Always a great value (especially with DiningFever’s exclusive non-holiday offer), the value’s even greater for Thanksgiving. Arte is offering a four-course dinner for $30.00, served until 8:00PM Thanksgiving night.
So whether you feast on turkey or enjoy something a little more unusual this year, you’re sure to have a memorable Thanksgiving ’07. Happy Thanksgiving!
